The NBA's 11-year US agreements with Disney, NBCUniversal and Amazon run through 2035-36. The league's official media-rights announcement confirms that every national game is available through broadly distributed streaming services.
National NBA games without cable
ABC and ESPN through ESPN Unlimited
Disney distributes 80 regular-season games per season under the current rights agreement. The package generally includes Wednesday ESPN games, selected Friday games, more than 20 ABC games, all five Christmas Day games, part of the first two playoff rounds, a Conference Finals series in most seasons and every NBA Finals on ABC.
The direct streaming route is ESPN Unlimited. It includes ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPNEWS, ESPN Deportes, SEC Network, ACC Network, ESPN+, and ESPN on ABC. The standalone Unlimited plan currently starts at $29.99 per month. Bundles and promotions can change.
Do not confuse ESPN Unlimited with ESPN Select. Select is the ESPN+ content tier and does not provide the complete ESPN network lineup. Check the official ESPN NBA page and the game tile before subscribing.
When a national game is on ABC, an antenna can receive the local ABC station without a monthly television fee where reception permits. An antenna does not unlock ESPN-only games.
NBC and Peacock
NBCUniversal can distribute up to 100 regular-season games per season, with more than half also on NBC. The first season of the agreement established a pattern of Monday Peacock games, Tuesday NBC/Peacock games and Sunday NBC/Peacock games. Peacock confirms that NBA games will stream throughout the 2026-27 season. Current direct prices checked August 2 are:

Both plans include live sports, and both can contain advertising during live games. Premium Plus mainly changes on-demand advertising and other plan features; it does not make a live NBA broadcast commercial-free.

If the game is also on NBC, a local antenna can be the no-subscription route. Some Peacock games can be exclusive, so verify the exact event rather than assuming every Peacock game appears over the air.
Prime Video
Amazon distributes 66 regular-season games per season, including Friday doubleheaders, Thursday doubleheaders beginning later in the season, selected Saturday games, Black Friday, and all knockout games in the Emirates NBA Cup. Prime also carries the six-game Play-In Tournament, part of the first two playoff rounds and a rotating Conference Finals package.
Prime Video is included with Amazon Prime, currently $14.99 per month or $139 per year in the United States. Eligible accounts can receive a 30-day trial. An eligible standalone Prime Video subscription may also be offered; confirm the price and renewal terms inside the account.
Amazon's official NBA viewing guide explains its national regular-season and postseason package. Prime Video works on current Fire TV, Roku, Apple TV, Google TV/Chromecast, smart TVs, browsers, phones, tablets, PlayStation and Xbox.
Prime Video does not carry every NBA game. It includes the games assigned to Amazon plus optional add-on subscriptions such as NBA League Pass or some regional networks. An add-on is billed separately and retains its own blackout rules.
How local NBA games work
Most team games are not national telecasts. Their live route depends on the team's local rights agreement and the viewer's ZIP code. A market can use:
- A regional sports network
- A local over-the-air station
- A team-operated direct subscription
- A regional streaming service
- A live-TV provider carrying the licensed channel

NBA League Pass is primarily an out-of-market regular-season service in the United States. It is a strong option for following a team outside its home market or watching many eligible games, but it is not a complete replacement for local and national coverage.

League Pass blackouts in the US
The NBA's current blackout policy says US viewers cannot watch these games live through League Pass:
- Games involving the local team or teams assigned to the viewer's location
- Nationally broadcast games
- NBA playoff and Finals games
Blackouts are based on the location of the device accessing League Pass. Enter the ZIP code on the purchase page before subscribing.
The official League Pass blackout rules state that national games become available on demand at 6:00 a.m. ET the following day. Local broadcasts become available three days after the live game. Live audio remains available for blacked-out games.
A VPN does not create viewing rights or guarantee that a blackout will disappear. The service can use device location, account and network signals, and its terms still apply.
