Step 1: find the official game listing
Start in the NBA schedule, NBA App, or a team’s official schedule. Confirm the teams, game number, date, tipoff time, and broadcaster together. A series can move between services from one game to the next, so finding Game 1 on one platform does not prove that Game 2 uses the same route.
The NBA’s “Tap to Watch” system is designed to direct fans from league and team pages to the authorized national or local platform. Use that link when it is available. Search snippets, social posts, and television-grid screenshots can become stale after a schedule change.
Step 2: understand each U.S. platform
ABC, ESPN, and the ESPN App
The NBA’s 11-year media agreement says Disney will carry approximately 18 games in the first two playoff rounds, one Conference Finals series in 10 of the 11 contract years, and every NBA Finals on ABC. Current NBA guidance says national ABC and ESPN games are available through the ESPN App, subject to the user’s eligible plan or television-provider access.
ABC is a broadcast network, so an antenna may receive an ABC playoff game free where the local affiliate has a usable signal. Streaming access is separate: an antenna does not unlock the ESPN App, and an internet bundle does not guarantee the correct local ABC affiliate. Check the ZIP-code lineup before subscribing.
NBC and Peacock
The NBA agreement assigns NBCUniversal approximately 28 games in the first two playoff rounds, with at least half on NBC, plus a rotating Conference Finals series in six of the 11 seasons. Peacock carries NBCUniversal’s national NBA streams under the current arrangement. Some games can also appear on an NBC cable outlet when officially listed.
For 2026, NBCUniversal published a dedicated playoff guide covering NBC, Peacock, and NBCSN. Do not automatically reuse that exact 2026 channel split for 2027. Open the current NBA or NBC event page and verify whether the game is NBC broadcast, Peacock streaming, a cable presentation, or a simulcast.
Prime Video
Amazon’s agreement includes the Play-In Tournament, first- and second-round playoff games, and a Conference Finals series in six of the 11 contract years. The NBA’s rights release says Amazon’s Conference Finals rotation begins with the 2026–27 season. The final 2027 bracket and game listings should still be checked before publication or purchase.
Prime Video games require the authorized Prime Video route for the viewer’s country and account. NBA League Pass can also be purchased through Amazon in supported markets, but League Pass is not a substitute for live nationally televised U.S. playoff coverage.
Do you need all three streaming routes?
A viewer who wants every U.S. playoff game should plan around the complete game list, not a favorite team’s first matchup. In practice, the national schedule can require access to the ESPN route, Peacock/NBC route, and Prime Video route. Can NBA League Pass stream the Playoffs live?
Not as a universal live U.S. solution. The NBA Help Center says nationally broadcast games are subject to blackout restrictions in the United States. Its current policy makes blacked-out national games available on demand at 6:00 a.m. ET the following day.
