Firestick Stuck on Logo? Fix the Startup Screen Safely

Last verified: August 3, 2026. I checked Amazon’s current Fire TV logo-screen, restart, power, HDMI/display, software-update, support, and factory-reset guidance linked below. A factory reset removes account information and downloaded content, so it remains a last resort.

If your Firestick is stuck on the Amazon or Fire TV logo, leave it powered on for at least 25 minutes before interrupting startup. Amazon specifically recommends this wait because the screen may change while the device completes startup work.

If the logo still does not advance, check the supplied power equipment, restart the Fire TV once, simplify the HDMI connection, and test another port or display. Save a factory reset for last because it removes account information, downloaded content, and settings.

This guide is for a logo that stays visible. If the logo disappears and returns repeatedly, use our Firestick restart-loop guide. If the television itself says No Signal, use the Firestick no-signal guide.

The Amazon logo and Fire TV logo are both startup screens. The important distinction is whether one image remains static, the device visibly restarts, or the television loses the signal completely.

1. Give the startup screen 25 uninterrupted minutes

Amazon's current logo troubleshooting page says to leave the Fire TV powered on for 25 minutes or until the screen changes.

During that window:

  • keep the device connected to stable wall power;
  • leave the television on the correct HDMI input;
  • do not repeatedly unplug the Fire TV;
  • do not press a factory-reset shortcut;
  • watch for the logo disappearing and returning, which indicates a different restart-loop pattern.

The 25-minute instruction is not a promise that every device will recover. It is a safe waiting period that avoids interrupting startup or an update before moving to connection tests.

If the home screen appears, let Fire TV settle and then check for a software update under Settings → My Fire TV or Device & Software → About → Check for System Update. Keep power and internet connected during installation.

2. Use the Fire TV's supplied power equipment

Amazon recommends the power cord or adapter included with the Fire TV because it is intended to provide adequate power for that device.

Check the complete power path

  1. Confirm the USB cable is fully seated in the Fire TV and power adapter.
  2. Plug the adapter into a known-working wall outlet.
  3. Test without an unpowered USB hub, questionable extension, or television USB port.
  4. Inspect the cable and adapter for fraying, bent connectors, unusual heat, liquid, or other damage.
  5. Use the supplied cable length when possible; Amazon warns that a longer substitute cable can reduce delivered power.

Do not assume any phone charger is suitable. If the original adapter or cable is missing, match a replacement to the exact Fire TV model's documented requirements.

Stop using equipment that is damaged, wet, unusually hot, or producing an unstable connection. Do not open or repair the power adapter yourself.

3. Perform one controlled restart

When the logo remains after the full wait, restart the device once:

  1. Disconnect the Fire TV power cord or adapter.
  2. Wait at least three seconds.
  3. Reconnect it to the known-good wall outlet.
  4. Keep the television on the correct input.
  5. Allow the startup sequence to run without repeated interruptions.

Amazon also provides Settings → My Fire TV → Restart when the interface is accessible, but a device frozen at the logo cannot use that menu.

A restart is not a factory reset and does not intentionally erase apps or account information. Our Fire TV restart and reset guide explains the difference.

Do not unplug and reconnect the device every few seconds. That can interrupt startup and prevents a clean diagnosis.

4. Simplify the HDMI connection

Amazon's logo guidance recommends testing both with and without an HDMI adapter or extender. It also recommends a high-speed HDMI cable where a detachable cable is used.

Temporarily simplify the path:

  • connect Fire TV directly to the television instead of through a receiver, soundbar, HDMI switch, splitter, capture device, or hub;
  • try the supplied HDMI extender connected, then removed;
  • reseat the integrated Fire TV Stick plug or detachable HDMI cable without forcing it;
  • select the exact television input that matches the physical port;
  • allow several seconds for the HDMI handshake after every change.

A Fire TV Stick has an integrated HDMI plug, so do not attempt to remove it. The extender, television port, or another display can be tested instead.

If direct connection restores startup, reconnect intermediary equipment one piece at a time. The Fire TV may not be the failed component.

5. Try another HDMI port and, if possible, another display

Move Fire TV to a different HDMI port, select that new input, and give the connection time to settle. If the logo advances only on the second port, the original port or its configuration is the likely problem.

Amazon also recommends checking whether the television is HDCP-compliant in its manual. HDCP is part of the protected-video connection between the Fire TV and display. Avoid buying adapters advertised as HDCP bypasses; test with supported ports and equipment instead.

If practical, test the Fire TV on another compatible television or monitor using the same known-good power setup. The result separates two fault areas:

  • works on another display: investigate the original TV port, receiver, extender, input settings, or compatibility;
  • remains stuck on more than one display: the power chain, Fire TV software, or device hardware becomes more likely.

Use this as a diagnostic test, not proof that a television or Fire TV must immediately be replaced.

6. Update Fire TV only if the home screen becomes available

If Fire TV eventually starts and remains stable, install the current system update:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select My Fire TV or Device & Software.
  3. Select About.
  4. Select Check for System Update.

Menu names can vary by Fire TV model and software version. Keep reliable power and internet connected throughout the update.

If the device cannot pass the logo, do not follow unofficial computer, ADB, recovery-menu, or file-flashing instructions intended for developers. Amazon's consumer workflow is the startup wait, restart, supplied power equipment, HDMI tests, another display, and then factory reset or support.

7. Factory-reset only as the last software test

A factory reset removes account information, downloaded content, and settings. It may also remove locally stored in-app purchases. Safely eject expandable storage first when applicable.

If the interface becomes available, use:

Settings → My Fire TV → Reset to Factory Defaults

Amazon's remote shortcut is to hold Back + the right side of the navigation circle together for 10 seconds. The television then shows a choice to continue or cancel. Amazon warns that the device can reset automatically after several more seconds if no option is selected.

Use the shortcut only after:

  • the complete 25-minute wait;
  • supplied or confirmed-compatible power equipment;
  • one controlled restart;
  • direct HDMI connection;
  • another HDMI port;
  • another display when practical;
  • confirming that account, Wi-Fi, and app sign-in details are available.

Do not repeatedly perform factory resets. If a clean reset cannot complete or the logo remains before third-party apps are installed, contact Amazon support.

When to contact Amazon or replace the device

Contact Amazon device support when:

  • the device stays on the logo after the official wait and all connection tests;
  • the same symptom occurs on more than one compatible display;
  • the supplied power adapter or cable is damaged or unstable;
  • the Fire TV becomes unusually hot, smells burnt, makes unusual noise, or shows liquid or impact damage;
  • the device cannot complete a factory reset;
  • a completed factory reset does not restore startup;
  • the Fire TV is a television with integrated Fire TV software and model-specific recovery steps are required.

Warranty and replacement eligibility depend on the model, seller, purchase date, territory, and cause of failure. Have the device serial number and purchase information ready.

Avoid these common mistakes

  • Do not interrupt startup before the full 25-minute window.
  • Do not treat a repeating logo as the same problem as a static logo.
  • Do not diagnose through an HDMI hub when a direct connection is available.
  • Do not assume a television USB port supplies enough power.
  • Do not force an HDMI plug or insert metal tools into a port.
  • Do not use unsupported recovery files, ADB commands, or unofficial firmware.
  • Do not factory-reset before understanding the data loss.
  • Do not replace the Fire TV before testing another port or display when practical.

Frequently asked questions

How long should I wait when Firestick is stuck on the logo?

Amazon says to leave the Fire TV powered on for 25 minutes or until the screen changes. Use reliable wall power and avoid interrupting the device during that period.

Is a Firestick stuck on the logo the same as a boot loop?

No. A static hang leaves the same logo visible. A boot loop repeatedly returns through the logo or startup sequence. The first troubleshooting steps overlap, but a repeating cycle needs the restart-loop diagnostic.

Can an HDMI port cause the logo to freeze?

The Fire TV may actually be starting while the HDMI path fails to complete a stable connection. Amazon recommends a different HDMI port, direct connection, testing the extender both ways, checking HDCP support, and another display when possible.

Will unplugging Firestick erase anything?

A normal restart by disconnecting and reconnecting power does not intentionally erase apps or account information. A factory reset does.

Can I update Fire TV while it is stuck on the logo?

Not through the normal consumer menu. If the home screen becomes available, check for a system update in Settings. Avoid unofficial flashing or developer recovery instructions on a household device.

Should I reset Firestick from the remote?

Only after the non-destructive checks fail and you accept the data loss. Amazon's shortcut is Back plus the right side of the navigation circle for 10 seconds, followed by an on-screen confirmation or cancellation period.
